Variation in casein distribution and mineralisation in the milk from Holstein-Friesian cows

چکیده
In this study, protein and salt distributions in the milk of 48 Holstein-Friesian cows were studied. Gross composition samples variation between individual was line with expectation. However, mineralisation casein fraction, expressed mmol protein-associated calcium per 10 g casein, differed >2-fold samples. Reasons for are unknown could not be correlated to and/or genetic variants caseins. Furthermore, notable differences (>5-fold) non-sedimentable (100,000×g 60 min) observed. Percentages caseins ?-casein (BB > AB AA) increased increasing degree glycosylation. Higher levels glycosylated attributable repulsion micelles, leading formation a less cohesive sediment on centrifugation.

Validation of mid-infrared spectrometry in milk for predicting body energy status in Holstein-Friesian cows.
Cow energy balance is known to be associated with cow health and fertility; therefore, routine access to data on energy balance can be useful in both management and breeding decisions to improve cow performance. The objective of this study was to determine if individual cow milk mid-infrared spectra (MIR) could be useful to predict cow energy balance across contrasting production systems. Direc...
متن کاملEstimates of Genetic and Phenotypic Parameters for Milk Production in Moroccan Holstein-Friesian Cows
To satisfy the growing demand of the human population for milk, the Moroccan government set up a plan in 1975 to increase milk production. The most important genetic strategies were the introduction of improved dairy cattle, the institution of milk recording, and the extension of artificial insemination (AI). Thus, more than 10,000 Holstein and Friesian heifers were purchased annually from Euro...
متن کاملBody condition score and live-weight effects on milk production in Irish Holstein-Friesian dairy cows.
The objective of the present study was to quantify the relationships among body condition score (BCS; scale 1 to 5), live weight (WT) and milk production in Irish Holstein-Friesian spring calving dairy cows. Data were from 66 commercial dairy herds during the years 1999 and 2000. The data consisted of up to 9886 lactations with records for BCS or WT at least once pre-calving, or at calving, nad...

متن کاملBlood metabolic profiles in Uruguayan Holstein and Uruguayan Holstein x New Zealand Holstein-Friesian dairy cows
Blood metabolic profiles were determined from 40 days prepartum to 60 days postpartum in Uruguayan Holstein (UH) (n = 13) and UH x New Zealand Holstein-Friesian first cross (UH-NZHF) (n = 13) cows with seven in each group experiencing their second lactation (L2) and six experiencing their third lactation (L3). Non-esterified fatty acids increased around calving and tended to be greater in UH-L3...
